Garbage Collection

Garbage collection for commercial properties is arranged with private contractors. Private contractors on the Coast include Coast Bin Rentals, Grayco Disposal, Waste Management Canada and Harbour Disposal.

Except in the District of Sechelt, there is no scheduled pickup for residential or commercieal recycling. Recycling depots are operated by GRIPS in Pender Harbour, Salish Soils in Sechelt, and Gibsons Recycling Depot (GRD) in Gibsons. The GRD also accepts household electronics for recycling. As it is a Resource Recovery Centre, the GRD will accept materials refused by other depots including Styrofoam, books, and some hazardous materials.

User-pay and commercial recycling collection service is offered by: Coastline Recycling, Waste Management of Canada Corporation , and Grayco Disposal.

Regional Landfill

Sechelt Landfill is operated by the Sunshine Coast Regional District. It accepts general waste, and some hazardous waste. THE LANDFILL DOES NOT HAVE RECYCLING FACILITIES. See SCRD tipping fee for details on acceptable materials and relevant fees. The SCRD also operates the Pender Harbour Transfer Station in Garden Bay.

Hazardous Waste Disposal
